Leona is a frontline tank through and through. She is a Redeemed unit, synergizing well with other Redeemed in the early game. Her other trait is Knight, which provides a solid damage block which is more powerful in the early game.

Poppy is a Hellion Knight, making her a strong early game frontline tank. Her Hellion trait pairs well with other Hellions for the early game, and her Knight trait makes her a suitable tank.
Udyr is a melee frontliner who mixes a bit of survivability with damage. You will most likely look to use him to transition into Draconic or Skirmisher.
Vayne is an early game ranged auto attacker. He has no mana and will deal her damage through auto attacks. Pair her up with Forgotten units to boost her low attack damage or Rangers to increase her attack speed.
Vladimir is the other Renewer who can pair well early with Lissandra. He also provides a good transition into Nightbringer. While he is ranged, he provides a role of both damage and tank with his healing ability.
Warwick is another damage frontliner who excels in the early game. His Forgotten trait can be used to buff up his stats, while his Brawler trait makes him a suitable frontliner.
Ziggs is the last 1-cost Hellion who pairs very well with Poppy and Kled to make an early board. He is a magic damage unit so a good portion of his damage will come from his ability.

Hecarim is a Forgotten Cavalier and acts as a early game frontliner for Forgotten. He can tank quite well early game, but does fall off toward the mid and late game.
Leblanc is a magic damage Assassin who hits two units with her ability. Her ability also stuns, making her a strong addition to teams that can use her traits.
Nautilus is a simple frontline tank with the Ironclad and Knight trait. Both are defensive, but you won’t be able to get the Ironclad into your team until you can hit some late game units.
Sett is an early game Brawler that is often used to get Draconic 3 in early. This allows you to generate eggs that will hatch into more Draconic units.
Soraka has a nice mana reave ability and has the Renewer and Dawnbringer traits. She’s most often used in these types of teams, but you can use her as a flexible unit for utility.
Syndra is a Redeemed Invoker, but Invoker will require late game units. As such, Syndra usually used as an early item magic damage item holder, or for running the Redeemed trait.
Thresh is a short ranged tank that has a nice ability to hook the furthest enemy on the board. He is often used to pair with other early game Knights or alongside Forgotten units.
Trundle is a melee damage unit that is mainly used to run Skirmishers. Dragonslayer can also come in handy later in the game with the higher cost Dragonslayer units.
Varus is an attack damage unit that pairs well with other Rangers for increased attack speed. The Redeemed trait also makes him useful when looking to build those types of teams.
Ashe is a Ranger that provides an AoE CC effect with her ability. She can also be used to hold attack damage items as her attack speed with Ranger can get very high.
Katarina is an offensive Assassin that deals mainly magic damage, but her auto attacks can still do solid damage as they will often crit with Assassins.
Lee Sin is a melee unit that is used for Skirmisher or or Nightbringer team comps. He can deal a little bit of damage with his ability, but he’s mainly used for his traits.
Lulu is a Mystic unit that provides Magic Resist to your team when paired with other Mystics. Her Hellion trait also makes her a unit to pair alongside the other low cost Hellions.
Morgana has a very strong AoE CC ability that hits enemies that are close to her. Because of this, players will often frontline Morgana even though she’s a ranged unit.
Nidalee is a Dawnbringer Skirmisher that has the unique ability of leaping toward an enemy unit. She has short range at first, but will be melee after she transforms.
Nocturne is an attack damage Assassin who has built in healing with his ability. He can be quite strong when invested into, but it can be hard to 3 star him consistently.
Nunu is a frontline Brawler that is used along with his Abomination trait. He is usually the hardest unit to find early in order to hit Abomination 3 alongside Kalista and Brand.
Pantheon is a Skirmisher with a nice ability that lets him take reduced damage. His Dragonslayer trait also pairs nicely with a unit like Trundle who is also a Skirmisher.
Yasuo is a Nightbringer Legionnaire, so he can be used as a supporting unit in those team comps. He does a solid bit of damage with his ability, so he may be a strong carry depending on the meta.
Zyra is a ranged magic damage unit that provides a solid AoE CC with her ability. She can pair with Spellweavers for more damage or with Draconics for more units.
Aphelios is a ranged attack damage carry that has survivability with his Nightbringer trait. His Ranger trait also provides him with a solid amount of attack speed, making him a solid carry choice.
Diana is an Assassin that deals a decent amount of magic damage with her ability. Her ability also provides solid CC by stunning the units around her when she casts.
Draven is a high damage carry that gains a lot of attack damage with things like Forgotten and his ability. His Legionnaire trait also provides a good amount of attack speed, making him a highly offensive unit.
Ivern is a very flexible unit that provides CC and frontline with his ability that summons Daisy. Revenant also pairs well with units like Nocturne or Volibear, giving him a free Guardian Angel.
Jax is a melee attack damage carry with a very straight forward idea. He will do most of his damage through auto attacks, but his Ironclad trait allows players to give the team some extra survivability against other attack damage comps.
Mordekaiser is a frontline Legionnaire unit that combines tankiness and damage. He is a strong unit to have in Leigonnaire teams or to splash in Dragonslayer.
Rell has one of the best CC abilities in this Set, and her Ironclad trait also makes her flexible to add some extra armor to the team. Cavalier is nice as well, making her tankier if you can fit in another Cavalier in the team.
Taric is a very tanky frontline unit whose ability will heal those around him and provide them with extra armor. He is a Knight, making him even tankier, and his Verdant trait allows units around him to be immune to CC for a short period of time.
Vel’Koz is the other 4-cost magic damage carry that shoots a laser with his ability. The damage is quite strong, but make sure to position him well so you can hit the enemy units you want.
Darius is the late game unit to pair with Nightbringer team comps. His ability will shred enemy armor, making him a great addition to any attack damage team comp.
Heimerdinger is the last Draconic unit, allowing players to go for 5 Draconic. This will give even more value in the eggs you hatch. His Renewer trait helps him gain more mana to cast his powerful ability, burning enemies and applying a healing debuff.
Kayle is a strong late game carry, but she needs a lot of time to ramp up her Ascension ability. She combines three strong traits: Legionnaire, Verdant, and Redeemed. This allows her to be a secondary carry in potentially a lot of team comps.
Kindred is a Ranger Mystic unit, which is interesting to see. She will gain attack speed alongside other Rangers, but her ability is what she is known for. She can keep your team alive with her ability, and her Mystic trait allows her to be added flexibly to many team comps.
Teemo costs Health to purchase, so he can be easy to purchase if you have a lot of health going into the late game. His ability hits a large range of enemies, dealing solid magic damage. He is also a Hellion, meaning he is a late game carry for any team comp looking to run Hellions.
Viego is a 5-cost Assassin, but his ability doesn’t make him a carry per say. His ability functions almost like a Zephyr on the unit he hits, but he also will summon the enemy to your team if he can kill with his ability. However, he can be interrupted during his ability channel, so watch out for that.
Volibear is a very strong late game unit and arguably the best front line unit in the game. His Revenant trait allows him to essentially guarantee a cast, which will knock up a large circle of enemies.
TFT Tier List Methodology
Our goal is to deliver the most correct tier list we can. When data becomes available, we will add that to our decision making as well.
To ensure accuracy, we work with experts with multiple Queen accounts like Ace of Spades and Saintvicious to scientifically test hypotheses and come to logical conclusions. We will update these as frequently as possible until the meta settles.
We justify our decision making in the notes, so be sure to read that and weigh in. We welcome feedback to figure out what we missed!
S tier = Super powerful and contested champs that everyone wants and forms comps around.
A tier = Champs that fit very well into powerful comps in the meta.
B tier = Champs that are situational but still fit into good comps.
Not on the list = Champs that are rarely contested and have better alternatives for their comps or just don’t fit into a strong comp at all.
This allows you to understand when a champion is valuable and when they start to fall off. This also allows you to understand how you should value your economy with the rolls you are getting. If this doesn’t work out or is too complex, then we will iterate in the future.
